In case you missed it, the European Partnership for Energy and the Environment (EPEE) recently criticized proposed revisions to the European Commission’s F-gas phasedowns.

Importantly, EPEE supports some provisions in the proposal such as requirements on leak checks, but is concerned that the proposed timeline is unrealistic and would actually imperil the Commission’s own environmental objectives.

According to EPEE, “the proposed phasedown interferes very strongly with the existing planning of companies and changes the economic framework conditions, investment decisions and thus the security of jobs to a decisive degree.” Taken in total, EPEE calls this a “potential threat to the functioning of entire economic sectors.”

globalFACT shares EPEE’s concerns about the Commission’s proposal to accelerate the HFC phasedown and the considerable challenges it would create for the industry.
