EFCTC: New Study Confirms TFA From HFO-1234yf Has Negligible Ecological and Human Health Impact

An important new study investigated trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) formation from emissions of HFO-1234yf, its dry and wet deposition, and rainwater concentration over India, China, and the Middle East. It concludes that the ecological and human health impacts now and from continued use of HFO-1234yf in India, China, and the Middle East are estimated to be insignificant.

EFCTC: Selecting and Using GWP Values for Refrigerants

“GWP values have been refined over the past two decades with the development of atmospheric science. As GWPs of refrigerants are relative to CO2, any change in the calculated global warming impact (radiative forcing) of CO2 directly affects the refrigerant GWP… Uncertainty in refrigerant GWP is stated to be ±30-50%. Uncertainties in refrigerant GWPs are dominated by the uncertainty in the reference gas, CO2.”

Process & Control Today: Major Dairy Processing Plant Moves Away from Ammonia-based Cooling with Bespoke System from ICS Cool Energy

“While the customer initially leaned towards an ammonia-based system, which was traditionally used on site in the past, they changed their mind after we presented the benefits of an HFO-refrigerant-based system.”
